COVID-19

COVID-19 Protocol

We are open and ready to safely learn and grow. Your child’s health, safety and well-being has always been a top priority at A Kid’s Life. During this pandemic, we are increasing our efforts to reduce the spread of infection and keep both families and staff healthy.

COVID-19 procedures

What the children are doing

Upon entering the classroom and throughout the day, we learn how washing our hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water eliminates germs. Our teachers provide pictures that teach your child proper ways to use hand sanitizer, cough/sneeze, and greet others from a distance by toe tapping or elbow nudging. Our goal is to maintain the same level of learning while providing your child with a safe and healthy environment.

What the staff are doing

All staff are wearing masks, using hand sanitizer and washing hands frequently. Staff are disinfecting all high touch surfaces throughout the day, such as toilets, drinking fountains, sinks, toys, tables, and more. Nap mats are sprayed and wiped down daily by the children, but thoroughly sanitized by staff at the end of the week and hung out to dry. Before walking into a classroom, a staff member will take the child’s temperature. (With a temperature more than 100.4, the child is sent home and must be fever free for at least a 24 hour period. Should the child test positive for COVID-19, the child must quarantine for 14 days. Additionally, anyone that the child has been in contact with must self-isolate for at least 10 days.)

What parents are doing

Parents are required to take their child’s temperature in the morning prior to dropping off at school. If your child has a fever of 100.4 or higher they must stay at home for a full 24 hours after their fever has broken without the use of fever reducing medication. No fever reducing medication will be administered at A Kid’s Life. Parents must wear a mask when dropping off and picking up their children. They can walk their child to Room 2 where a staff member will take the child’s temperature, ask if they have had a fever, cough, trouble breathing, skin rashes or diarrhea within the last 24 hours. If you child has had any of these symptoms, they will be sent home. Parents should take their child’s bedding home every week and wash it in hot water and bring it back the following week. A Kid’s Life is limiting toys and other items being brought in from home. TK parents may collect their child’s work for the day from the cubbies that have been set up outside the classroom. Parents are not permitted inside any of the classrooms. If your child develops a fever, cough, difficulty breathing or any type of rash a staff member will call you immediately so that you may pick up your child.

Our policies and procedures are in place to help prevent the spread of disease. Protocols and procedures are subject to change due to CDC or statewide guidelines. Any questions or concerns can be addressed to the Center Director. Together, we can create a safe, creative and warm environment for our children.
